Sometimes I think I should invest in a treadmill.
Just kidding.

New Agility Classes!!

Starting later in February, I will be teaching two new beginner agility classes at BowWowz Canine Performance Center.

Performance Puppy class will be on Thursday afternoons, 1:00 to 2:00. This class is for puppies up to about a year old who have never done any agility foundation classes. We will work on focus/attention, beginning handling skills (shadow handling, ground work, circle work), and beginning obstacle skills. I have 2 spaces left in the class (I'm limiting it to 4 students so everyone gets lots of time to work). The cost is $120 for six weeks, but if I can fill the class I will only charge each student $100. There are no pre-requisites for the puppies.

Advanced Beginners class will be on Friday night at 6:30, starting March 2. This class will do more obstacle training, start to apply handling to short sequences, and work on making sure the dogs are fast and confident on the obstacles. The dogs in this class should have been through a foundation class, and be able to focus on working with their handler. This class is limited to 4 students, and I have 2 spots left. Like the Performance Puppy class, it's $120 for six weeks, but if I can fill those last 2 spots I will drop the price to $100. That's good value! The six weeks will not run consecutively due to a couple of out-of-town trials.

About me: I started competing in agility in 1996 with my mixed-breed, Robyn. I also competed in the very first AKC weekend in Colorado in August of 1996 with my Cairn Terrier, Walker.
Over the last 16 years, my dogs and I have competed and titled in AKC, USDAA, NADAC, DOCNA, ASCA, and UKC. I competed at the AKC Agility Invitational with Cozy, a Cairn Terrier in 2008. My Scottie, Jackson, won several classes at the 2010 DOCNA Championships, including the NAC. He had just turned 2 at the time. Cozy won the Grand Veteran classes at the same Championships.
Besides Robyn and Walker, I competed with Buddy (Scottie rescue), Cozy (still competing at age 12), Tucker (Border Terrier), Kilda (Border Terrier), Wager (Scottie) and Jackson (Scottie). I enjoy dogs who challenge me as a trainer.
I am an AKC earthdog judge and one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Earthdog Club. I have put Master Earthdog titles on four of my terriers, and am working on two more. Most of my dogs have RallyO titles, and several are in Nosework classes. Wager is being home-schooled in tracking as time permits.
I started teaching classes back in the 1990s.  My training "mentors" are Susan Garrett, Patricia McConnell, Leslie McDivett, Kathy Sdao, Ken Ramirez....
